Partitionmanager only runs with sudo
KDE makes their apps fail when run under root (and rightly so, GUIs shouldn't have root privileges). So it will cease to work in the future.
So let's focus on your actual problem. What happens when you try to run partitionmanager with user privileges? What error messages do you see?
unpriviledged can't mount drives
Partitionmanager is for... managing (adding, removing, formatting, editing, etc) partitions. It's wrong tool if you're trying to mount something. Assuming that you're using Plasma, you can mount drivers in Dolphin. And if it doesn't work in Dolphin, it could be something similar to image#417.

It's probably a different issue, but anyway, what doesn't work about them? Which error messages do you observe?

I can agree GUI root access is not desirable and should be as limited as possible, a necessary evil if you will. Eliminated 100%? A bit too extreme for my taste, not because I want it that way, but then logically it seems equivalent to saying everyone has to know terminal commands, which is too absolutist and too much of a "one true scotsman" fallacy it seems to me. But that is subjective, so I agree to disagree and leave it at that.
I am most certainly aware it is NOT intended to mount drives, I think I was quoting what it showed as an error upon launch. My use for it was formatting, as such software is used for, I went with it because it is used on the Live USB and there it works ok without such problems, but NOT on the installed OS. No, not using either KDE or Dolphin, and do know how to use other non-root file managers when that is the task at hand. It was NOT here. Oh and by the way, I'm the author of ticket #417 (closed), so maybe I should read my own posts and teach them to myself? :-) Not angry, just giggling because it seems absurd.
I read that at least on other KDE distros, kdesu is a command line executable and their recommended way to run such software as root. No errors other than terminal saying no such command or similar verbage. If there is another recommended way to do so in Adelie great, I'm listening. But saying "that is wrong don't do that!" (which is what "sudo is a broken workaround" translates to in English IMHO) is like Jobs saying "You're holding the iPhone wrong, there is no malfunction." Yes, there is, maybe not for everyone, but it does happen. Agree to disagree again, unless another means of doing root level tasks in a GUI is known. Do not consider that broken, I consider lack of it as broken. I want security, but NOT 100% at the expense of all other features, but a reasonable balance.
