Plasma can't interact with dbus after installation
I am running the latest Adelie Linux on a 2007 MacBook Pro model number A1229, but I am not sure that's specifically relevant here for reasons I will describe.
To reproduce:
- Load a live ISO of Adelie Linux desktop with KDE Plasma
- Network management and power management should work normally while in the live environment.
- Install Adelie Linux to system with a complete KDE Plasma desktop environment.
- Install powerdevil via apk.
- Log in to Plasma
- No power management icons show up. Attempting to use Power Management features in KDE settings app results in an error stating that "Power Management configuration module could not be loaded. The Power Management service appears not to be running."
Running powerdevil manually results in:
% /usr/lib/libexec/org_kde_powerdevil kf.dbusaddons: DBus session bus not found. To circumvent this problem try the following command (with bash): export $(dbus-launch)
Attempted workaround: modifying the Exec= line in /usr/share/xsessions/plasma.desktop from
Exec=/usr/bin/startplasma-x1
to
Exec=/usr/bin/dbus-run-session /usr/bin/startplasma-x1
This had no impact.
Oddly enough, there's another app called Energy that seems to work fine. I don't know much about this app or how it accesses the battery data.
