user/cups-filters: Upgrading Gutenprint causes printers to stop printing until driver is changed

Bugzilla ID 201
Reporter A. Wilcox (awilfox)
Assignee A. Wilcox (awilfox)
Reported 2019-09-13 03:46:44 -0500
Modified 2020-06-22 06:23:27 -0500
Status CONFIRMED
Version 1.0-BETA4
Hardware Adélie Linux / All
Importance --- / enhancement
Package(s) user/cups-filters

Description

The Gutenprint PPDs explicitly reference "/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertogutenprint.5.X", which means when Gutenprint was upgraded from 5.2 to 5.3, printing stopped working for Gutenprint-based printer drivers until the driver was manually changed in the CUPS administration panel. This is a terrible UX, and took over an hour to debug for me.
